So excited that it’s the weekend! Well, almost that is! I got tons of prepping for my trip to Burning Man, especially narly outfits. Stay tune for a post!

For now, let’s chat about this vibrant outfit to kick off the weekend!

Mixing patterns is one of favorite styling tricks. It’s nothing new, but it sure is fun being creative with it. The key is to find the right patterns to mix them with. It can be color block + stripes, plaids + florals, abstract + checks. The options are endless!

I happened to have a floral tropical print shirt I’m crazy about. I’ve been challenging myself to style it in different ways. I found this stripe trouser from Topshop, that would look perfect with it.

With these two patterns, I focused on the dominant kelley green color with a soft white ground. It makes it easier to connect these pieces together, when the color story is cohesive. Another key element, is to keep the focus on the busy floral print. Then balance it back with a simpler pattern, like the linear stripes. Both of these compliment well!

Remember to feature the piece you’re most excited about and tone down the rest. So, keep the accessories simple and sweet. I matched the outfit with a white bag from Celine (similar here). Its subtle clean lines works well with the busy prints.

The classic wayfarer style sunglasses from Quay are inexpensive and very classic. (similar here). As for the slides, I wore my most tropic pair of shoes I own. A pair in light pink with encrusted pineapple crystals (similar here). Doesn’t get any better than that!

All these colors make me so happy! Can’t you tell from my smile?

I love this outfit and will be wearing it on repeat! Will you dare to try on a pattern mix combo? Try it out and tell me all about it.

PS: You can get this similar look on the bottom of this post.

Got questions? Don’t be shy ask away.

Happy weekend peeps!
