April marks the sixth issue of STLYELOGUE! We’re half way into a year from our journey of all things style and dialogue. That’s worth a celebration (cue the fireworks)! Every month our creative minds come up with relevant trends to share in our own unique way. We hope to level-up each post with better content than the last. Oh and there’s so much more to come…..so stay tuned!
When Cortney, Mary and I were brainstorming trend ideas, the thought of TRENCH COATS during the month of April felt appropriate, while also living in a rainy city. It was being literal but without being too literal and we thought you’d find it comical. Ha ha….
Bring may flowers and also the trench coat, which is a HUGE trend currently in street-style and runways. It’s not just a classic piece that is needed for practical reasons anymore. Rather a fashion staple that’s been reiterated in versions of long, short, sheer, leather and all that in between. (See above recent photo runway references from Tag Walk)
The trench coat lite, is what I like to call this piece I’m wearing. A trench style made in blush pink crinkle organza, unlike the traditional water resistant materials. I love the sheerness of the fabric, which allows me to play with color and pattern, when it came to layering a dress underneath.
It’s functionality is an accessory, than a coat, because of how light the fabric is. Definitely a fun piece to wear during warmer days to complete a look.
I chose a printed dress in a rust color, complimenting back to the color palette of browns and pinks. The tie neck was playful and whimsy, as I left it untied as I like to show some clavicle (you know, it’s a women’s most sexiest part of their body). The fluidity of the fabric made the skirt portion twirl and fly away in the wind. A high slight to show some legs didn’t hurt either.
ACCESSORIES TO COMPLETE
These brown suede platform sandals with black edge whip stitching, has a crazy high heel that can easily snap my ankle. But it’s hard to say no to a pair of sexy shoes that makes you feel like a super model.
Adding a whimsical pair of round sunnies made in pink lucite was exactly what was needed to keep this outfit fun and light!
Leather cognac satchel, I’ve styled in here, has been a stapled bag I use for work or out with the ladies for brunch. Made in the sturdiest leather, it holds this classic structured top handle satchel in shape. TIMELESS!
CLASSIC TRENCH RESTYLED
Mary is keeping it cool as always, by restyling the classic beige trench coat with an olive green jumpsuit (another strong trend to keep an eye on). She paired the look with white pointed toe pumps and a round straw top handle bag, giving a peak of spring vibes.

This is the most color I’ve ever seen Cortney wearing. From the rust color trench to the spring floral printed midi dress, this mama-to-be is definitely trying fresh styling ideas. Of course, not to mention those elevated basic accessories she springs forward by keeping light in color!

THE TRENCH COAT POSSE
Because we’re three bad asses looking smooth and gangsta wearing trench coats, like a modern day Dick Tracy. (Or at least we were trying to.) Bottom line, we pulled off this trend without looking like we were hiding from the rain. So we did alright!
Don’t wait! Run out and get a trench coat. This classic silhouette is here to STAY!
We will be sharing restyling videos of this trend on other ways to wear it on our Instagram accounts.
