Seattle Magazine 50th Anniversary Party
THE PARTY:
Honestly, I can’t recall the last time I’ve been to an elegant party at this caliber, where I have to dress to the nines. It would probably be my wedding 8 years ago, which had me all excited to attend the Seattle Magazine’s 50th Anniversary Party last week. I attended the party with my husband and friends. We couldn’t remember the last time we went to a celebration with this much fun and excitement. The event was a compilation of fashion, charity, food, drink and music all in one.
The celebration was taken place at Fremont Studios, with over 1,000 guests in their best dressed black and white threads, dancing to the city’s hometown bands Allen Stone and The Dip, while enjoying wine from 20 local wineries, signature cocktails and fancy fare from the best restaurants Seattle can offer. Dancing was continued in the Silent Disco with headphones provided by Quiet Events. We even had the opportunity to sing our hearts out to Snoop Dogg’s Gin and Juice, at Subaru Carpool Karaoke or my husband would call it “Caraoke” for a chance to win a snowboard. Northwest Harvest was the beneficiary of the $17,000 raised from guest donations, for an opportunity to win the “Seattle 50” luxury prize package, which included local experiences and items. The donation raised will feed over 60,000 meals in Seattle!
THE OUTFIT:
On the invitation, the dress code mentioned black and white swanky attire optional. I envisioned wearing something simple and modern, without looking like I’m going to the prom. I also wanted to wear the color white, because it would standout from the crowd, since I know guests will be wearing mostly black, as it’s such a common color in everyone’s closet. However, I did not own anything white that was appropriate and did not want to purchase a piece just for one evening. Then I turned to Rent The Runway for the first time, to rent a strapless jumpsuit from Solace London for $85 rental of 4 days with free returns and dry cleaning. It’s one of the best solutions in finding something new to wear for busy working moms that don’t have time to shop.
I accessorized the outfit with stackable silver bangles ranging in different widths, from Nordstrom. Unfortunately the Jimmy Choo Minny 100 steel mirror leather sandals, did not make it on the photo. But worked perfectly with the length of the jumpsuit, as it gave me enough height. The classic style and metallic color of this pair of shoes is a great investment, as I can imagine putting it with endless multiple outfits.
Tip: If you have nothing to wear, find a temporary solution. Consider rent or borrow.
