WHO IS JASON?
Many people asks me who takes my beautiful photos. I’m proud to say, “It’s Jason. My friend.” People always talk about how amazing blog photos are, but leaves out the talent behind the lens. I can have the most coolest outfits and crazy poses. But without a good photographer to capture the shot, I’m good for nothing.
Jason and I met in 2011, when he first took my pregnancy photos. That day we were trying different looks, with indoor and outdoor lighting. Then he took that perfect shot of Peter and I, both of us holding Kinsley in my belly. He captured one of the happiest moments of our lives. It was just beautiful! We called that the “money shot”!
Photography is a hobby of Jason’s. He has a gamut of high end equipment. Anyone visiting his studio would think he’s a professional.
What does it take to be a talented photographer? I believe it’s when he/she can capture the perfect frame that touches the viewer in an emotional level. They say a picture says a thousand words. He can do just that and then some. Ever since, I knew this guy had talent.
MORE THAN JUST A PHOTOGRAPHER
Fast forward to 2016, Jason and I reconnected and this time we were both married with kids. We started to hang out more, because of our families. He then learned I started my blog and offered to take photos of me. I was a bit perplexed at the idea, not because he wasn’t talented. I wasn’t sure how it would work out, because I’m new to the blog world. Also I wasn’t sure how we’d communicate since I didn’t know sign language. Jason is deaf. I never underestimated his talent. It was more me. I didn’t want to let him down.
I thought more about it again. How would it hurt? I just have to learn the best way I can to work with him. So we did our first shoot. That day was raining, so we shot inside my house. We’re trying new ideas and playing with lighting. The pictures didn’t turn out the way I had hoped. At this point, we were just having fun and getting to know each other as blogger/photographer.
Second shoot was shot outdoors at Pioneer Square. They were AMAZING! I couldn’t believe how well it turned out and still one of my favorite photo shoots ’til this day. From then on, our beautiful working relationship was born.
WHAT I’VE LEARNED
Throughout the last eighteen months, Jason has been my consistent photographer. We’ve grown together as professionals while fine tuning our skills. A shoot had taken us hours, now is about an hour (more or less). We understand each others expectations and have come together to create something special.
When I mean special, I mean we’ve have built a blogger/photographer relationship and a budding friendship as well. I’ve learn about the world of being deaf. He taught me to count my blessings and be grateful for what life has given me. To have fun and not take things too seriously.
I learn to be more sensitive and patient with the deaf community. What it’s like to not being able to hear and how they see the world. Everything I do when it revolves Jason, I always put myself in his shoes. When I created a Youtube video a few weeks ago, I made sure to have subtitles in order for him and others to have the fair opportunity to watch it.
Thank you Jason! For being part of my life. Your continuous support and believing in my dreams, keeps me blogging everyday. To many more years of friendship and photography!
