A GOOD CAUSE
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure to attend my first Wine Women & Shoes fundraising event, benefiting Olive Crest, a non-profit organization raising awareness to end child abuse. It was an evening of delicious food, wine sipping, local shopping, an Armoire fashion show, silent auctions and the charming shoe guys. It was the perfect LNO (ladies night out) with my partner in crime Cortney from The Grey Edit.
The evening was a night full of high energy, fashion and philanthropy. Above all, what really stuck with me the most was a story from a family of Olive Crest. They spoke about how they adopted their foster kids that were abandoned from their birth parents. A touching yet happy ending.
Being a mother myself, helping my kid feel safe and loved is the first priority. Learning about how Olive Crest did just that for many children, made me feel fuzzy and warm. I was very honored to help a great cause and giving back, for children in the Seattle community.
Thank you to all the volunteers and sponsors. Special thanks to Gossip & Glamour for the opportunity and invitation to this worthy cause.
MAKING A STATEMENT
First of all, the event was held at the gorgeous Fairmont Olympic Hotel in downtown Seattle. If you ever been to any of their hotels, you know it’s a luxurious establishment with well-dressed people. So, it was my mission to bring my A game.
I wore a Chanel white/black sequined plaid dress. It was sparkly, modern and bold. A statement dress for a special occasion. Once I stepped into the venue, I was immediately told by different women of how beautiful my dress was. They all wanted to play with the sequins to see if it flips to another color. It was awkward. Besides, I’m a big fan of personal space. Then I realized they couldn’t resist, because the dress was pretty cool and interesting.
Pairing the dress back with black suede/satin Chanel pumps worn with a pair of Swiss dot nylon anklets were the perfect match up. The socks created an ankle bootie look in season with the brisk weather. I carried a YSL snakeskin clutch that was simple and let the dress have all the fun. And it did!
