A Model Statement Photo credit: Peter Lindbergh A Model Statement My fondest memories as a young teenager, was to save enough money and buy that monthly issue of Vogue. The one cover that stuck with me all these years, was the UK Vogue 1990 January issue. The face of the cover had Naomi, Cindy, Christy, Linda and Tatjana, back when models were on all the magazine covers. It was a start of a new decade, a new era and these women defined the new meaning of high end fashion and beauty. Each so different in their own special way. Which brings me back to the present day, when my jaw dropped as I saw this sweatshirt by Brunette at Nordstrom‘s. It says “NAOMI, CINDY, LINDA, CLAUDIA, CHRISTY, AND KATE.” My heart jumped out at me, as tons of teenage memories came flashing back before my eyes. I wanted to make a statement that reminded me of my love for fashion, my childhood and the 90’s! On this gorgeous day in NYC, fashion capitol of US, we celebrate these Supermodels of the 90’s. I’m wearing the statement sweatshirt paired with black leather leggings to give a bit of downtown edge that perfectly matches to the graffiti art behind me. I finish the outfit with my new Alberto Fermani black high ankle suede boots. I’ve been collecting shoes from this brand for the last few years and they are worth the investment. They are all well-made in Italy with the finest materials. I still have pairs I’ve own for at least 4 years that are still in fantastic shape. These are great classic boots that will look even better when they’re well worn. Suede is the “it’ material for shoes this Fall season and I am so glad I found my seasonal pair of go-to boots. Tip: Make a statement by using your clothes as a form of communication. I love to hear about when you fell in love with fashion. Please share your thoughts on the comments below.
