A Dress for the Desert I was looking for some cute dresses for my recent Palm Springs trip and found a lot of pieces on this post. The one I fell in love with most was this blue lace maxi dress. I love the plunging deep v neckline. It’s low enough to show a bit of cleavage and not too revealing, when I move around. I am not “top heavy” either, so it’s easy to be bra-friendly with this dress. The lace fabric overlay is see through allover the dress, except for the built in romper that is lined up to the top bodice for some modesty. It’s revealing without being to provocative. The weight of the garment is light and airy, perfectly designed for the desert. This cool blue is the perfect shade hanging out in hot tempertures. It also compliments the gorgeous back drop and matches the warm beautiful sky. I added a pop of red from the suede sandals I styled on this post. Not my first choice of shoes to wear around the dirt, but had to get it in for this shoot. When you’re in the desert, a wide rim hat is perfect to provide the right amount of shade. Or you can just hide under one of the Joshua trees, which wouldn’t be that much fun. Some sunnies wouldn’t hurt either. These rose gold ones are from Quay Australia. I love the mirror reflective lenses, so my eyes can hide behind them. The pink rims is feminine, a perfect update to a classic aviator. ABOUT THE SHOOT: We drove an hour out from the city on a hot dry scorching day for this shoot. We knew the best time to get the best lighting was in the afternoon and scouted some perfect spots. When we found the Joshua trees we were so excited! I’ve only heard so much about them and seen pictures, but in person it was just breath taking. Hope I get to inspire you to go out at least once and see them in person yourself. Xo, E.
