Working in Athleisure
These days when we wake up in the morning, there are endless options in dressing for work. Unlike the 80’s and 90’s, when “business casual” was still a suit without a tie. Now it’s more like a polo shirt, pair of slacks and rubber flip flops (not a good look boys and girls).
Well, I’ve been lucky to be in an industry, where I can basically wear anything, as long as I’m dressed “appropriately”, meaning keep the under garments hidden. These days, workout clothes is not just only for going to the gym. Thanks to the new trend “Athleisure“, clothes that are designed to be worn to work, a drink with a friend or taking my daughter to the park. These can be worn ALL DAY LONG, without stepping your foot into a yoga class.
Which brings me to this photo, wearing a pair of black nylon drawstring joggers and mesh cap by Lorna Jane. All these pieces work well together comfortably, from day to evening. Secretly, I wish I can dress in athleisure wear everyday. But then I would feel lazy and would have nothing interesting to write about.
I paired the pants with custom designed Bow and Drape sweatshirt with sequined appliqués. The verbiage says “YIP YIP HOORAY!”. I thought it was clever to switch the “HIP” to Yip, my last name, with the play on words. Everyone always get a good laugh out of it.
Adidas x Topshop collaboration created this pair of Superstars. They’ve updated the classic iconic sneaker with a digital tag on the back of the shoe. The sole is made of translucent rubber and line with a bright red color. The extra wide black laces creates extra dimension to the from of the shoe.
