My favorite piece of clothing in my closet is a good pair of jeans. I own countless pairs in different shapes, patterns, shade of colors and fit (my husband can vouch for that). I wear jeans to work, picking my daughter up from school, hanging out with the family on weekends, travel and running errands. I literally live and breathe in them. They’re basically my lifeline.
A good pair of jeans is worth the investment and pretty much the only item that I will pay full price, because I know I will wear it ALL the time. I look for fit, style, quality, fabric treatment and versatility. They all play a factor on how I purchase a pair of jeans.
There have been many evolutions in making denim new again including embellished, ripped, frayed, embroidered, untreated raw, dip dye and the list goes on. Recently there’s been a trend of reconstructing denim to make it look “Re-Worked”. The denim brands get creative in taking a normal pair of jeans and reinventing it, whether it’s removing the seams, repositioning existing pockets, patchwork, seam allowances to the outside and etc. It gives an ordinary pair of jeans life again!
The pair I have on today is from Stella McCartney. It has a high waist and the length hits perfectly at the ankle so I can show off my shoes. The best part yet, is the bottom part of leg is “Re-Worked” with a darker color in the same fabric creating a color block pattern. It’s been re-worked, but the clean workmanship makes it almost like a trouser and work appropriate.
I wore it with a flirty ruffle patterned blouse that compliments the rest of the outfit. Ruffles are in trend and will be for another few seasons. I had this blouse for more than 10 years and always hesitant to get rid of it. I just love the pattern and fit. However, this evening when I had to lift something heavy at home, I ripped the sleeves on the armhole seam. I guess it’s time to say goodbye to it. The shoes I just bought recently and wrote it about them on my latest spring sandals post. I loved how it pops this outfit and there’s enough buckles to keep those shoes in tacked!
