An Outfit Fit For Mother’s Day
Whether you’re going out to brunch or having a small gathering at home, it’s nice to celebrate YOU on Mother’s Day. So why not get all dress up on this once a year occasion to feel good and proud of being a mom. Make sure you make the entire family put on their best threads too!
The weather in Seattle is still a little bit uncertain, even in the month of May, but we’re hoping for a gorgeous day this weekend. On this special celebration, we all deserve some pretty florals and a “femi” dress. But you know me, I need some edge to go with all that “girly” shenanigan.
I bought this dress on my last trip to New York City at one of my favorite stores, Cos. I found this midi length dress in a beautiful olive color made in a polyester wool blend broad cloth that gives structure. The cut of the skirt with added pleats lets you shift around easily when you chase around the kids. I loved the cut of the dress, but felt it was missing some feminine elements. Then I thought of a floral jacket I’ve featured in a previous post, that works perfectly in color and length. It’s light weight and perfect for the spring. To keep the outfit from looking to dark (here’s where the “edge” comes in ), I chose to wear a pair of white buckle detail sandals, that I wrote about on this post. It adds an unexpected element to this outfit which can stir too “girly” if I went with a pair of mary janes, if you know what I mean!?
Try this idea with some of your pieces at home and let know how it turns out. If you don’t have a similar dress, but have a full skirt (length can be mini to midi), you can wear it with a light weight sweater or blouse. Just make sure you tuck it into the skirt to neaten it up. Match it back with a pair of heels, and voila!
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY MAMAMS!!
