I’ve posted in the past on how important “Athleisure” wear is (see post) and showed how to incorporate the trend into your wardrobe. It looks like there’s no sign of it slowing down, especially when you have someone like Rihanna whose superstar status influencing fashion fanatics with her latest Fenty x Puma by Rihanna collaboration. Here she mixes feminine luxe + sporty together by taking normal workout clothes to another level. Warm-up zip tricot jackets mixed with lace or satin ribbon trimmed on a sneaker. This is just the beginning for Riri and I am excited to see more from her line.
Inspired by the trend, I was excited to put an outfit together for work. I restyled the sheen pleated skirt from Zara that I wrote about on this post, with an Adidas Trefoil hoodie that is in the most perfect summer red. It’s vibrancy compliments the dusty cosmetic pink hue of the skirt. I’ve been loving these two colors together for Spring and you’ll be seeing me wearing this combo together often. The length of the hoodie sweatshirt hits right at the hip allowing me to tuck it under slightly to wear it in a “slouch”. It’s made in a soft cotton blend French terry knit, so it’s cozy and light weight at the same time.
Instead of sneakers, I put the outfit with a pair of black suede heels from Marc Fisher to play up the luxe. The heels has the right amount of edge to keep it from stirring to0 feminine. The heel is 4″ high and the maximum height I can wear all day before calling it quits by 5pm. Luckily it has a stack heel making it easier to walk on. The back zipper has the cutest fringe detail and cut outs on the front of the shoe. I can dress these shoes with jeans for a weekend outfit or with a dress for a summer wedding. Best yet, these heels are currently on sale!
One of my colleagues said about my outfit that stuck with me all day. She said, “you look sporty and fancy at the same time! Only you can pull that off!”. I disagree with her of course and encourage her to try out the Luxe-Leisure combo. I mean it does takes a lot of guts to try something “unexpected”. I could’ve worn the skirt with a pretty white blouse, but how boring would that be. I wanted to try something different and stand out. At the end of the day “you just have to own it” and don’t give a crap what people think! (Drop the mic….)
