FORTY + FASHIONABLE = ALICIA
I’m not going to lie. I’m totally freaking about turning 40 this year. A new decade, unknown expectations, new goals, questionable actions, bucket list. Its been running through my mind for the last 18 months. I think I’ve been driving my husband crazy with all the conversations we’ve had about turning 40. Looking back 20’s were all about experiencing adulthood, learning to balance a check book, navigate my fashion career and travel the world. 30’s were about settling down with my husband and build a family/life together in Seattle. 40’s?????
Well, on my quest for a bit of soul searching, every other month I will interview a Forty + Fashionable woman about what it means to turn 40. I will help style their looks to give them a new perspective in fashion and hopefully in life. What you wear, radiates from how you feel!
This month I am featuring my friend Alicia. I met Alicia two years ago and our friendship quickly blossomed, with her fun and easy going personality. She’s a loving wife and mom to three beautiful kids. She’s always up to trying new things and doesn’t let anything stop her from living life!
Birthplace: Lima, Peru
Occupation: Real Estate Agent
How’s it like to turn 40?
Actually, being 40 feels the same as any age in my 30’s. I feel there is more sense of freedom now that I am about to turn 40. Like when you are younger you are not that secure of which path to take and when you are older you don’t feel as hesitant.
What does it mean for you dressing in your 40’s?
I love fashion and I always have had. The difference now, is that I like to be fashionably comfy, compared to when I was on my 20’s when I dressed to impress. Now I dress to be comfortable throughout the day.
Where do you like to shop?
I love white house black market, Nordstroms, Macy’s and Zara.
Describe your fashion style?
Feminine chic with a bit of edge. I like to wear casual business clothes, cocktail dresses and ripped jeans.
What are you looking forward about turning 40?
I am looking forward to seeing my kids grow, enjoy family time and traveling to new places.
What are some of your advice for those in their 30’s?
To be yourself, to love yourself, to have a hand available for the ones who need it.
What is your motto about life? What do you live by?
Happiness is within yourself.
Hope you enjoy the interview. Stay tuned for the next 40 + FASHIONABLE!
