Being from New York City, I love wearing black. Period. Like even all year long. When you’re there, black is the mandatory color. Although, living in Seattle with the dreary weather, it gets depressing wearing black all the time. I try to mix it up with a colorful lipstick or a bright piece of accessory.
The toughest time to wear black clothes is during the summer time, when it’s so darn hot outside. Black is the only color that absorbs the sun and the worse color to wear when the sun is out. Well I found ways around this problem.
I love this black cold shoulder dress by Shay & Coco. It’s made in soft viscose and drapes beautifully. The subtle star print gives a relief to this dark dress. It also has the cold shoulder detail and easy fit silhouette to keep it breezy. My favorite is the bit of ruffle on the sleeve. I’ve been obsessed with the ruffle trend lately, so this was a perfect piece to add to my closet!
To lighten up the outfit, I put together some cute accessories, such as this red cross body bag. I’ve been wearing it all spring/summer season long. Basically, whenever I need to brighten up my day! See how I styled it on this post.
The white oxfords are my new favorite pair of flats. And doesn’t the perforated lace pattern go so well with the star print of the dress? It’s got the positive/negative vibe going. The little holes are breathable so wouldn’t get all sweaty during the summer. These shoes take a classic style to a new level.
When I wear this boater hat, I feel like I’m on vacation going to Venice riding on a Gondola (I might just need to make a trip there soon). I’m loving this structured hat and how much shade it provides, so those sun spots can stay away!
Tell me how you like to wear black during the warm days. Love to hear from you!
