AN EFFORTLESS HOLIDAY LOOK

While you’re starting to make a shopping list of presents and begin decorating your home, your calendar is starting to fill up with holiday parties. You’re overwhelmingly accepted all the invitations, because you’re a social butterfly and love the spirit of all things Christmas.

Then you look at your closet and realize “Shit! I have nothing to wear.” Last year’s pieces look outdated. You want to look put together, but not over-the-top festive. (Except when it’s an ugly Christmas sweater party.) By this the time time, you’re starting to panic.

Do not fret. I got you boo!

THE EQUATION:

You want to look as if you didn’t take too much time on your outfit. But still turn heads.

On today’s outfit, I put together a head to toe look with pieces you probably own in your closet and needed a reminder how to wear them.

Just follow this easy equation:

Sweater + Pleated Skirt + Pumps + Belt + Statement Bag + Vintage Gold Jewelry = Effortlessly Holiday Chic

AN EFFORTLESS OUTFIT:

I’ve been collecting pleated skirts for the last few years and own six. Yes that’s excessive, but I don’t have a novelty one, like this colorblock pleated skirt. And certainly wouldn’t mind adding it to my collection. Pleated skirts are a classic staple. I can dress it up with a blouse and heels, when I want to look like a lady. Dressing it down with a tee shirt and a pair of kicks on casual outings.  I just love the versatility of it.

Pairing the skirt with a solid black sweater (similar), with a v neck shape to show a bit of skin. The ruffle cuff adds femininity and softness to this look. Cinching the waist with wide belt to create an hourglass shape. Trying a narrow belt, would work as well. I just like the wider belt for the extra drama.

For the feet, a simple black suede/satin pump (similar) will do. I chose a pair with ornate gold heels to tie back to the statement top handle bag (similar). And slipped on a pair of swiss dot anklets for some ‘bootie” action.

To tie in the gold trims, I matched a fine beaded necklace and a rhinestone brooch, purchased from a local vintage shop, Swan Dive. That place is a gold mine! Adding some old world charm and a bit of sparkle to the entire look.

Fact: It might be surprising to you, as much as I love fashion, I don’t like dressing up. Spending hours getting made up and wearing clothes I’m not comfortable in, is not the way I like to spend my time. I only go through the effort, when it’s needed. Don’t get me wrong, I love to look pretty. Who doesn’t? Just in my own way.

Have fun at all the holiday parties and be merry!
