A FLIRTY SKIRT
Ruffles, ruffles and more ruffles! There is no stopping for this spring trend any time soon. The fast fashion retailers or high street, like the Brits call it, is flooded with EVERYTHING ruffle. From tops, skirts, pants, shoes and the list goes on. There’s no avoiding it! Even if you don’t like ruffles, you can’t help to add this feminine detail somewhere in your wardrobe.
I found a way to style this over the top three tier midi asymmetrical skirt. This is usually more ruffles than I can handle, but I toned it down with a white textured light weight sweater and made the skirt the focus of my look today. The skirt is made of a summer cotton poplin stretch keeping it light weight. I love how the ruffles flounce and flirt beautifully when it’s cut on a bias (that means diagonally). It makes me want to take flamenco dancing with this piece someday!
The navy wedge sandals compliments monochromatically well with the blue and white yarn dye stripe pattern on the skirt. A wedge heel is a good solution, if you’re not a big fan of heels. It helps keep your balance without having to sacrifice height.
The best thing about living in New York City are all the sample sales that happens all year round. My friend Judy picked up this cute red mini suede crossbody, from her trip to the big apple. It’s a fun pop color to the outfit in the most perfect summer red. It’s going to be my go to bag all season long!
