WHY SO BASIC?
I love a good basic. Makes life so much easier to get dressed in the morning. Some of the most successful people on this planet wear the most basic articles of clothing? For instance Steve Jobs‘, iconic black turtleneck. Or Mark Zuckerberg’s crew neck tees sporting the laid back west coast vibe. I know! These are such bland outfits. But it works for them. They save time to create and solve problems.
Same with me.
I spend most of time in the morning figuring something out to wear. At times I score an awesome look. Others, I just put on whatever sticks and the outcome is just a HOT MESS.
MORE THAN BASIC
What if I can have the most basic pieces with some “oomph” to it. Such like this outfit from local designer Schai’s latest Monsoon collection. (You can read more about the designer on this post.} All the pieces are “fool proof” and easy to create multiple outfits.
The Reversible Oblong Jacket. This piece is a work of art. It’s made in a denim fabric with options to create a reversible look, with green contrast seams. A creative way to add a pop of color. This type of garment finish is considered only in well made clothes.
Look up close and check out all the seaming details. It’s a piece that keeps on giving.
Check out the big pockets and cool tailoring. The collar is
The Open Back V-Neck Dress has a high low hem. It creates a flattering curve along the legs to show a bit of skin. Oh yass! Mama loves some skin. Talk about skin, the neckline hits right at the cleavage without being too revealing.
Did I mention the fit? Once I put this on, I felt like it was made for me. It was as if the designer, Suk, custom made this for me. With a little stretch to the fabric, as tight and form fitting it may look, it actually is really comfortable.
THE NOT SO BASIC ACCESSORIES
Best part about a basic outfit. is you can throw together any accessories to make a big statement.
The YSL bag is in the prettiest blues and purples complimenting the color palette. Look closely and you can see the python gives this gorgeous piece a texture. You just want to pet it!
The classic shades in frosted white lucite is the perfect touch to my look. I love the green/blue reflective lenses, bringing the colors together.
Celine wedges are in the perfect navy leather with neutral color heels matching back to the dress. The yellow python heel straps gives a nice contrast to the entire shoe, and might I add the entire outfit as well.
This is how I basic. How do you do basic? Tell me. I want to know.
